I Didn't Know Anyone But 'Toddlers In Tiaras' Used These...

Reality dramas about small children living out their mother's dreams in pageants were the first places I learned there was another meaning of the word "flipper".  I was horrified that the snaggle-toothed result of normal development  would need to be covered up and made less child-like... seriously, does anyone know a seven-year-old on the planet that doesn't have an uneven mixture of baby and adult teeth?  Why would that be considered unattractive?  Why not just put them in Spanx and push-up bras, too?  Can't go having anyone looking like a normally developing child, now, can we?
But I just saw a commercial on my local children's network for a product called "Snap-On Smile".  And yes, it is exactly what it sounds like.  All the models in the ad were adults this time.  "Perfect for weddings or special occasions," it boasts.  So, we're not talking about covering something up until all the baby teeth fall out.  We're talking about something that is akin to the push-up bra (the ad did only feature women, that I saw) in the grown-up world:  false advertising... but at least it's geared toward adults who have already developed (or not developed) their self-esteem, so if it makes them happy, go for it.  And it's only six easy payments of-- good grief!  Six payments?  That's quite a few!  Of how much???  $99 frakkin' dollars?  Oh, but gee, if I call now, I'll get $50 off my first payment!!  That makes it only $49!!  Hmmm... they do know that it doesn't make this thing $49, right?  I still have 5 more payments after that...  So the Snap-On Smile will set you back $544 plus tax, shipping and handling.  Am I wrong that I think if you're that worried about your teeth and want a temporary, removable fix you should just drop $50 on the push-up bra?  It's much cheaper, and if you wear it no one will notice your teeth anyway!
