Denny's Second Course

So I decided to do what I said I would do and give Denny's another go after our totally nice experience with the Super Bowl freebie.  I think I must've pushed my luck.  My first mistake was going to a different location.  I was planning to go visit my grandfather in the hospital after we ate and the one we had gone to previously was in the complete opposite direction.  So I gave the store that was on the way a shot.  It struck out in a hurry.  We went at about 10:30 a.m. and found only 2-3 other tables in the restaurant.  It took several minutes for us to be greeted-- long enough for me to figure out our entire order.  If you know me at all, you know that was a really long time!  I chose something I had seen on a commercial that looked appealing:  The new Great Griddle Lover...
If you're seeing what I'm seeing, you see blueberry pancakes-- full of real blueberries-- with granola baked right in, along with some French toast.  What I received was not this picture.  It was some lazy high school dropout's version of this photo.  I won't even complain about the French toast being a bit overdone.  It was the highlight of the meal.  The pancakes had no granola at all in them.  The blueberries were not real.  They were plain pancakes that looked on the backside to have been sprayed with imitation blueberry buckshot.  It was crunchy!!  Have you ever bought the cheapie blueberry muffin mix at the store and seen the powdered 'blueberry' they give you?  This is what was in my pancakes!! But, hey, whatever... just spray some Reddi Whip on top and sprinkle it with 4 blueberries and a half teaspoon of granola.  That's close enough.
I would have brought it to my server's attention, but another table of ladies was using it all up (his attention, that is).  I had gotten him once, but that was just to ask him for some syrup... I'll just leave that one alone, too.  I must have made him mad by ordering water to drink, because I sure as heck wasn't going to get a refill.  So on top of annoyed, I was thirsty when I left!
I might try the first Denny's again.  I know even within a chain restaurant, quality can vary greatly.  But today was what I expected from Denny's all along:  You-know-what on a shingle.
