I Have Never Been So Excited To Clean Up A Mess!

This morning I was balancing my checkbook when I heard the distinctive sound of someone going potty in the toilet-- frequently one of the first signs I hear that notify me that Baby Duck, my 4 1/2 year old, is awake.  So I continued my work and waited for her to flush, wash, and come out to tell me she's up.  I finished and realized I had still not even heard the toilet flush.  I went to go investigate the situation.  What I discovered was this:  Ladybug, who is two, stripped naked smearing toothpaste on the toilet seat lid.  As I try to put together in my mind what would have made the potty sound, I noticed something else on the lid:  Ladybug had gone into the bathroom and used the toilet all by herself!!!  She had neglected to lift the lid (which happens to be the only reason she didn't then fall in the toilet), but the rounded edges of it allowed most of it to run straight into the toilet bowl.  That explains the sound effect!
So I happily got out the Lysol wipes and congratulated Ladybug on realizing she needed to go, then gently showed her how to lift the lid.  Sometimes independence is funny.
