A Day Of Mixed Emotions
Warning: I don't feel like today is a day for a goofy entry. I had some hard feelings going into today, honestly. I almost felt ridiculous hearing over and over again today about the events of 9/11/01-- not because I don't care or think it is just another day. I just felt that so much talk of how unified we all became in the wake of such tragic events made it that much more glaringly obvious how painfully divided our nation is today. The hypocrisy of it is disturbing for me, so I silently thanked thousands of people for their service related to the tragedy and went about my day largely attempting to ignore the calendar. Then my husband decided to turn the channel from Larry King interviewing Kathy Griffin (... and apparently she's even less than D-List if this is the first I am hearing of her schtupping the boy who made a Palin baby?!?!) to Fox News. They were airing interviews with survivors from the Twin Towers. I found myself moved to tears in a matter of minutes. Political climate is a petty side note. People went to work that morning and didn't make it home to their kids. Others escaped but have permanent memories of scattered dead bodies as they made their way out. This was all too real. My prayers go out to everyone who lost someone or something that day.
